Our experienced doctors are skilled at joint manipulation, also commonly called “chiropractic adjustments.” The purpose of manipulation is to restore joint mobility by manually applying a controlled force into joints that have become hypomobile – or restricted in their movement. Manipulation, or adjustment of the affected joint and tissues, restores mobility, and alleviates pain and muscle tightness, allowing tissues to heal. We use low force techniques to make this experience more comfortable for you.

In addition to the chiropractic adjustment we believe that it is crucial to address the soft tissue by way of manual therapies which can include: myofascial release, dry needling, KT taping, rehab exercises & class IV laser therapy. Once you have been thoroughly examined by one of our doctors they will work with you to decide which therapies are most appropriate for your injury.

Meet Dr. Emily Rains

Dr. Emily Rains grew up in Dixon, IL where she was always running from one sport to the next. Whether it was volleyball, basketball, or softball, she was constantly competing from a young age. While playing basketball in high school she tore her ACL, and through that process discovered that she wanted to be able to help people with all types of injuries.

With a passion for sports and learning how the human body worked, she decided to combine her two favorite things and study Athletic Training at the University of Kansas. After graduating from KU, she went on to work with Cross Country/Track and Field at Boise State University and the University of Tennessee. During her time with Boise State, the Men’s Cross Country team won a conference championship which was a highlight of her time there!

While working as an Athletic Trainer, Emily met amazing Sports Chiropractors that made her realize she wanted to go back to school to pursue Chiropractic. She attended Cleveland University – Kansas City where she continued to expand her knowledge of the human body, how it functions, and how she can best aid her patients in their healthcare journeys.

Dr. Emily has had various continuing education opportunities that include Dry Needling, instrument assisted soft tissue mobilization (FST/FAKTR & Blades by RockTape), musculoskeletal injury taping (RockTape and FAKTR), functional movement screenings for injury prevention (FMS/SFMA), fitness nutrition, and massage cupping. Having these tools in her “toolbox” allows her to create a treatment plan that is individualized for each patient. She truly believes in empowering her patients through education and movement so they have the knowledge to live healthy lives and do the things they love.

In her free time, Emily enjoys hiking, traveling, reading, and spending time with boyfriend and their two pups, Keizer and Nellie! Her favorite meal of any day is breakfast so you can find her exploring the best brunch spots on the weekends as well!

Meet Dr. Abby Robinson

Dr. Abby Robinson grew up in Great Bend, KS where she was an avid swimmer competing on the summer team and her high school team. With a passion for anatomy and learning how the body works, Dr. Abby went on to the University of Kansas to study Exercise Science. During her time at KU, Dr. Abby developed a passion for anatomy and how the body mechanics work. Dr. Abby then decided to further her education by attending Cleveland Chiropractic College – KC where she graduated cum laude in 2010.

While enrolled at Cleveland Chiropractic Dr. Abby attended numerous Active Release Technique (ART) seminars to become full body certified. Dr. Abby is the only female provider for Active Release in the Lawrence/Topeka area and has over 10 years of experience. After graduating in 2010, Dr. Abby has continued her education with many evidence based seminars including: instrument assisted soft tissue (FST/FAKTR & Blades by RockTape), musculoskeletal injury taping (RockTape), sports screening for injury prevention (FMS), Webster Technique (Pre & Postpartum care) & neuromuscular re-education (Dynamic Neuromuscular Stabilization), & multiple McKenzie Disc Protocol & McKenzie Cervical/Thoracic Protocols. With all of these tools, Dr. Abby is able to choose the most effective treatment plan for each patient. A highlight of Dr. Abby’s elective coursework has been the DNS courses. After utilizing soft tissue therapy & the chiropractic adjustment to find and reduce/eliminate the source of pain, DNS allows Dr. Abby to get to the root of most injuries - stabilization. DNS focuses on core stabilization and proper breathing mechanics which leads to more efficient overall mobility of the extremities once the core is properly stabilized - more importantly helps you the patient get back to what you love - living life!

In her free time Dr. Abby can be found whipping up something in the kitchen, digging in the dirt with her boys or just being active with her family!
